Great piece, and the buyer-builder framing explains something the numbers alone don't: why the fintech expansion wasn't a strategy pivot, it was inherited logic. Worth adding the mechanics behind that "core center of gravity": ServiceTitan's own S-1 states they capture roughly 1% of customer GTV as revenue today, targeting 2% as adoption of the full FinTech suite deepens. That expansion is already moving. In September 2025 they signed Affirm as their first buy-now-pay-later partner, embedding installment financing directly into the payments flow. The contractor who used to chase a paper invoice at midnight can now let the homeowner finance the job on the spot. Same insight you're describing, just showing up as a line item now.

one detail worth pulling out: you can't fake that signal with paid acquisition. if your "vertical SaaS" needs a sales team from day one to find its own customer, something is not right
